Review: Noreve Leather case for PSP
Something new for this site - Mini-reviews for PSP related products and first up is the Noreve leather case:
I’ve been looking for something to protect my PSP from knocks and Noreve were kind enough to send me one to review. The case is shipped in a black box that looks like it might contain an expensive fountain pen or diamond encrusted cigarette lighter - a nice touch that bodes well for the quality of the product itself. It’s made of soft black leather with a velvet lining and has the company name and logo embossed on the front. Inserting the PSP was reasonably straightforward - I got it most of the way on without any problems but did find that I had to massage things a little until it was in exactly the right position. The case itself is comprised of three sections - the main sleeve that the PSP fits into, a back flap that comes up behind and covers the UMD drive and finally, a second flap that protects the front of the unit. Both are held in place with sturdy feeling press-studs which means the front one can be opened whilst the back one remains closed. The back flap has storage for another UMD drive although there is only room for the disk itself and no case notes or instructions. The front flap has storage for two additional memory sticks although there is no way to access the memory stick slot in the PSP whilst it’s in the case. Given the location of the slot, I can see how it would’ve been difficult to build an opening into the design but people are typically going to have multiple memory sticks and having to remove the PSP from the case to swap them is somewhat inconvenient. One nice touch is that it comes with it’s own matching carrying strap - having to use the white one that came with the PSP would’ve looked strange. The price on the Web site is 46 Euros but evidently that includes a hefty portion of French sales tax - the price for non-EU buyers is $37 plus relevant shipping. In conclusion, it seems a shame that one needs to put the PSP in a case at all since it’s so aesthetically pleasing to look at. However, I’ve dropped mine a couple of times already and unfortunately, some kind of protection is required. If you are in the market for an stylish looking case that protects everything and has plenty of extra storage then this is highly recommended. The only suggestion I can think of would be to consider offering different colors - for instance, I imagine this would also look very nice in a muted olive green. - Product page
